Tender issued for USD189.4 million Road construction Project in Paraguay

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has called for national and international construction firms interested in carrying out the construction and maintenance work of the PY17 National Route (Sovereignty Route) between the departments of Amambay and Canindeyú in Paraguay.

The Sovereignty Route encompasses the Pedro Juan Caballero – Zanja Pyta – Capitán Bado – Itanará – Ypejhú section, connecting Amambay and Canindeyú departments. The project, valued at PYG 1.4 trillion (USD 189 million), is funded by a USD 220 million credit from the Financial Fund for the Development of the La Plata Basin (FONPLATA). The undertaking involves dividing the 221 km road into four lots: Lot 1 (44 km), Lot 2 (48 km), Lot 3 (53 km), and Lot 4 (48.3 km). This includes 193.3 km for the main axis, 7 km for urban crossings, and 21 km for the ring roads of adjacent towns. Key elements include earthworks, drainage, structural components, main axis, paved accesses, and additional features like fences, signage, lighting, weighing and toll stations, counting stations, and an Environmental management plan. The improved road will benefit residents of Pedro Juan Caballero, Capitán Bado, Itanará, and Ypejhú.

The last date of receipt of the proposals is January 11, 2024. More information about this tender can be found on our Business Opportunity page here.
