Specialized Medical Company (SMC Healthcare) announced that its subsidiary, Al-Mukhtas Al-Sehhi Medical, in which SMC Healthcare holds a 51% stake, has received a project award letter from the Ministry of Health (MoH) for the management and operation of the SABIC Behavioral Care Specialist Hospital under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The contract is valued at around SAR 3.8 billion (US$999 million), inclusive of VAT. Under the 15-year PPP agreement, Al-Mukhtas Al-Sehhi Medical will oversee the complete management, operation, and maintenance of the SABIC Behavioral Care Specialist Hospital for the Ministry of Health. The facility features 150 inpatient beds, 19 outpatient clinics, and six day-care units, delivering a broad spectrum of specialized behavioral and mental healthcare services. The scope of work includes the delivery of both medical and non-medical operations and maintenance services, facility management, equipment management, and specialized clinical and non-clinical services related to mental health, addiction treatment, rehabilitation, and aftercare programs.
The hospital is intended to deliver advanced behavioral and mental healthcare services, supporting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to strengthen its mental health infrastructure, enhance patient care outcomes, and broaden access to specialized treatment programs. The initiative is also aligned with the Kingdom’s healthcare transformation strategy and Vision 2030 goals, which seek to expand private-sector involvement in the delivery of healthcare services.
