USD1.6bn road concession plan approved in Brazil

The grant plan presented by the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) for the concession of BR-153/414/080/TO /GO road project was approved by the Ministry of Infrastructure in Brazil.

The concession consists of the exploitation for 30 years of the infrastructure and the provision of the public service of recovery, conservation, maintenance, operation, implementation of improvements and expansion of the capacity of the BR-153 highways / 414/080/TO/GO, on the 624.1 km stretch of BR-153/TO/GO, between the junction with TO-070 (Aliança do Tocantins) until the junction with BR-060 (Anápolis); on the 139.6 km stretch of BR-414/GO, between the junction with BR-080/GO-230(A)/324 (Asunción de Goiás) to the junction with BR-153/GO-222/330 (Anápolis); on the 87 km stretch of BR-080/GO, between the junction with BR414/GO-230 (B) (Asunción de Goiás) to the junction with BR-153(A)/GO-342(B).

The BR-153/414/080 / TO / GO road system comprises a total length of 850.7 km, constituting the main link between the Middle-North of Brazil (states of Tocantins, Maranhão, Pará, and Amapá) with the Central-South Region of the country, covering the following municipalities:

  • In Tocantins: Aliança, Gurupi, Figueirópolis, Alvorada and Talismã; and
  • In Goiás: Asuncion de Goiás, Novo Planalto, Linda Vista, Porangatu, Santa Tereza de Goiás, Estrela do Norte, Campinorte, Uruaçu, Barro Alto, São Luiz do Norte, Itapaci, Jardim Paulista, Rialcema, Sul Rialma, Rianópolis, Uruana, Goianésia, Jaraguá, São Francisco de Goiás, Pirenópolis, Dois Irmãos, Cocalzinho de Goiás, Planalmira and Anápolis.

The estimated investment for the project is BRL 8.46 billion (US$ 1.61 billion) and the operating cost for the project is BRL 6.18 billion (US$ 1.17 billion).

Among the main works are the duplication of 623.4 km of the highway, 22.3 km of additional lanes and the construction of 21 walkways for pedestrians.
