Victoria shortlists two bidders for Ravenhall Prison PPP project

The Victorian Coalition Government has announced today that two consortia have been shortlisted to tender for the new Ravenhall Prison PPP project in Melbourne's West.

Consortia were shortlisted at the end of evaluations of the Expressions of Interest received.

The shortlisted respondents are:
Over coming months, these respondents will be issued with a Request for Proposal, requiring them to detail how they would deliver the project and at what cost. Proposals will be due mid next year, and the contract will be awarded before the end of 2014. Construction of the new prison will begin in 2015, with completion due at the end of 2017.In the 2013-14 Victorian State Budget, the government announced more than A$131.5 million in funding for 357 extra prison beds and a major expansion of Victoria's high-security prison facilities. This is in addition to the A$670 million announced in last year's budget for the Ravenhall prison and an additional 395 beds at existing prisons.The Ravenhall prison will expanded to accommodate 1,000 prisoners.
