Commercial close for Shenzhen light rail PPP contract

Shenzhen Metro Group and China Railway Construction Investment Group have achieved commercial closure for the Shenzhen light rail PPP project in China.

The project, which is the first PPP contract awarded in China for a light rail project, involves the development of an 11.9 km 1435 mm-gauge line in the northern Longhua district.

Specifically, the line is composed of a section from Longhua station on metro Line 4 that continues north to Huanguan South Road and ends at an interchange with the northern extension of metro Line 4 in Guanlan.

The consortium will operate the new facilities under a 20-year concession agreement.

This project is part of a 10-line light rail network that Shenzhen is planning to develop to serve Shenzhen as well as the districts of Longgang, Pingshan, Bao'an, and Guangming.
