Fisia Italimpianti of the Webuild Group has started building the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant in Saudi Arabia.

The Water Treatment Plant is part of the extensive Zuluf onshore oil plant complex located in the Persian Gulf, owned and managed by SAUDI ARAMCO. Fisia Italimpianti was awarded the project in 2023, with two contracts totaling EUR 408 million (USD 439 million), for the construction and management of the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant. Following engineering design, material procurement, and preliminary activities to improve soil characteristics, formal construction of the plant has commenced in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia.

The plant will have a capacity to treat up to 185,000 m3/day of water, which will be injected into offshore wells to enhance crude oil production. It will feature a water de-gassing system to extract, compress, and deliver gas from incoming water, followed by water treatment and filtration to reduce solids content for oil well injection. Additionally, the project includes auxiliary systems and buildings for administrative, technical, and control purposes.
