Balfour Beatty has been awarded a US$ 889 million contract by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to reconstruct and widen a 2.3-mile (3.7 km) section of Interstate 30 (I-30) in east Dallas County.
Balfour Beatty is set to rebuild a 3.7-km (2.3-mile) stretch of roadway in eastern Dallas County. Once finished, the project will double the general-purpose lanes from six to twelve, aiming to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity throughout the city. The company will also build nine interchanges connecting I-30 to the Southern Gateway, I-35E Lowest Stemmons, and The Horseshoe—projects Balfour Beatty has successfully delivered for the TxDOT within the past five years. This latest contract award follows Balfour Beatty’s appointment by the TxDOT to rebuild part of Interstate 35 through Austin in Texas. The contract, valued at US$ 746 million, was awarded in November 2024.
Balfour Beatty’s appointment to reconstruct part of I-30 is a testament to its selective bidding approach, ensuring that the company leverages its strengths to work with long-term customers in the geographies in which it has proven expertise, strong teams and trusted supply chain partners. Preconstruction will commence in 2026 and is estimated to last five years until completion.
