The Private Investment Promotion Agency of Peru (PROINVERSIÓN) has commenced activities to conduct modernization studies for the Conchucos Longitudinal Highway in the Áncash region, Peru.

The Conchucos Longitudinal Highway is a 226-km road project that will connect the provinces of Sihuas, Pomabamba, Mariscal Luzuriaga, Carlos Fermín Fitzcarral, and Huari, located in Ancash. It includes three sections: Section 1, 80 km long, covers the PE-12A - Pasacancha - Andaymayo - Paloseco - Pomabamba route; Section 2, 84 km long, covers the Pomabamba - Piscobamba - Llumpa - Llacma - San Luis route; and Section 3, 62 km long, covers the San Luis - Huamparan - Emp. PE-14B (Huari) route.

A tripartite agreement has been established among PROINVERSIÓN, Provías Nacionales, and the Regional Government of Áncash. Under this agreement, PROINVERSIÓN is responsible for conducting the studies, while the Regional Government of Áncash will fully finance the project by transferring the necessary resources to the agency. The modernization of the Conchucos Longitudinal Highway is expected to:

• Reduce travel times and optimize logistics costs

• Improve road safety and emergency response capabilities

• Enhance operational efficiency through the implementation of advanced Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

• Provide real-time traffic management and ensure compliance with regulations

The project is anticipated to be executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), wherein a specialized operator will be responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the highway.
