The Province of British Columbia has launched a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a contractor to design, build and partially finance the guideway, roadworks and utilities for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain public-private partnership (PPP) in British Columbia, Canada.

The selected contractor will be responsible for the design, build and partially finance the guideway, roadworks and utilities, including active transportation elements, such as cycling and walking paths along the extension. The RFQ will be the first procurement contract out of the three planned for the SkyTrain project. The second contract, which is expected to start in the fall, foresees the construction of eight new SkyTrain stations, including active transportation elements, such as cycling and walking paths around the stations. The third contract, planned for December 2022, will seek a contractor for the design and installation of SkyTrain trackwork, in addition to the design, installation and integration of electrical systems, such as power, telecommunications and automatic train control.

The SkyTrain is a 16-km extension of the Expo Line from King George Station to Langley City Centre. The construction is expected to begin in 2024, with the SkyTrain is planned to be operational in late 2028.

The deadline for submitting the qualifications is November 1, 2022.
