South Sudan’s Ministry of Transport has invited consulting firms to express interest in conducting the environmental and social impact assessment for proposed dredging works in the Juba to Bor section of the Nile River.

The task at hand is to enlist the services of a consulting firm to conduct an environmental and social impact assessment study. This study pertains to the proposed rehabilitation/construction of three ports—Juba, Mangalla, and Bor—along with the associated access roads and river clearing (dredging) activities in the Juba-Bor section of the River Nile. South Sudan government has secured funding from the Bank (International Development Association, IDA) through a Project Preparation Advance (PPA) for the South Sudan Transport Sector Development and Regional Integration Project (SS-TSDP). The consultant is expected to take an integrated approach, as distinct consultants will handle the Hydrodynamic and Bathymetric study, Pre-Feasibility study, Preliminary engineering design, and the preparation of cost estimates for the Inland Water Transport (IWT) ports along the River Nile.

Expressions of interest must be submitted in person or by email by January 19, 2024. More information about this tender can be found on our Business Opportunity page here.
