Contract awarded for Port of NEOM development project in Saudi Arabia

NEOM and the Saudi Ports Authority have announced that they awarded contracts for the construction and development of The Port of NEOM in Saudi Arabia.

The contracts for design, dredging, quay wall construction, and cargo handling equipment have been granted. Jacobs has been selected as the primary design consultant. The redesign project covers various areas including terminals, warehouses, rail delivery, infrastructure, and a sustainable energy network. Boskalis has been entrusted with the task of deepening and widening the main access channel. BESIX-MBL has been assigned the responsibility of designing and constructing over 3km of quay walls, employing innovative construction methods and materials.

As a part of the investment in the port's expansion, Saudi Liebherr Company Ltd and Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Company Limited (ZPMC) has been awarded multiple contracts for crane and container equipment. ZPMC has secured contracts for ten ship-to-shore (STS) gantry cranes, 30 electric rubber-tiered gantries (ERTG) cranes, and six automated rail-mounted gantries (ARMG) cranes. By the beginning of 2025, the first Container Terminal will be operational with integrated supply chain and logistics solutions.
