DC BLOX Joins Consortium for 1 GW AI Data Center and Energy Project at Savannah River Site

DC BLOX has joined an Amentum-led consortium, selected by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), to develop a 1 GW artificial intelligence data center and dedicated on-site energy generation project at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. 

DC BLOX has been selected as the digital infrastructure partner in an Amentum-led consortium chosen by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to enter negotiations for a phased lease to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) data center and dedicated energy generation project at the Savannah River Site (SRS) in South Carolina. The public-private initiative aims to create a scalable model for deploying AI infrastructure on federal land while supporting national security, economic growth, and U.S. technological leadership. 

The proposed development includes a 1-gigawatt (GW) AI data center campus supported by approximately 2 GW of dedicated on-site power generation. By co-locating advanced computing facilities with dedicated energy infrastructure, the project seeks to address one of the key challenges facing AI expansion—access to reliable, large-scale power. The initiative is also intended to increase power availability to the wider electricity grid, accelerate AI data center deployment, and advance the commercialization of next-generation nuclear energy technologies. As a consortium member, DC BLOX will contribute its expertise in designing, building, and operating AI-ready digital infrastructure, including hyperscale data centers and high-capacity fiber networks. The company will leverage its established presence across the Southeastern United States to develop resilient, high-performance digital infrastructure capable of supporting AI, cloud computing, and other compute-intensive workloads. 

The project also aligns with DC BLOX's broader strategy of integrating advanced energy solutions with digital infrastructure. As a founding member of the Palmetto Nuclear Coalition, the company is working alongside industry leaders, policymakers, and energy stakeholders to promote nuclear power as a long-term, reliable energy source for AI data centers. The consortium envisions the Savannah River Site project as a model for pairing dedicated on-site energy generation with AI infrastructure to strengthen U.S. competitiveness while enabling sustainable growth in high-density computing.
