The Ministry of Public Works (Chile) has delivered the nearly completed Hospital del Salvador and the National Institute of Geriatrics project, developed through the country’s concession system, in Santiago, with 98.3% construction progress.

The project, which encompasses a total area of 172,500 square meters and 641 beds between the two facilities, is designed to serve the adult population of eastern Santiago and is estimated to benefit more than 500,000 residents. The development of the Hospital del Salvador includes 360 general adult beds, 44 private beds, 71 adult intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 30 acute care beds, and 24 psychiatric beds. For the National Institute of Geriatrics, the project includes 100 general adult beds and 12 private beds, along with 12 medical consultation rooms and 16 procedure rooms, one of which is designated for sample collection. The facility will also feature 28 professional consultation rooms. Overall, the hospital concessions program comprises 20 healthcare facilities across Chile, which are constructed, equipped, and operated by private concessionaires, enabling the development of essential health infrastructure through private investment.

The project was commissioned by the Ministry of Health (Chile) and is being implemented by the Ministry of Public Works (Chile) under a concessions framework. Construction started in 2017.
