Ketchikan City Council in Alaska, USA has received three proposals for cruise ship docks port from Survey Point Holdings, Global Ports Holding and SSA Marine.  The council meeting was scheduled on January 28, 2020, where the proposals were evaluated by the city manager, assistant manager, and attorney. The city will negotiate with the proponents before choosing its best option.

The city has seen an ever-increasing number of tourists visiting the city on cruise ships and the cruise docks can only handle one large ship at a time. Thus there is an urgent need for revamp of cruise docks. The city council has approved the PPP procurement in July 2019, under which the council issued a request for proposals for the cruise dock in October 2019 with a concession period up to 30 years.
