Macquarie Asset Management announced the final close of Macquarie Green Energy Transition Solutions (MGETS) with over US$3 billion of total Fund and co-investment commitments.
MGETS is Macquarie’s first energy transition fund focused on opportunities that extend beyond traditional renewables. Its investment priorities cover sectors such as energy storage, distributed generation, renewable fuels, low-carbon transport, carbon capture, and the circular economy. The fund has already committed more than 65% of its capital across 12 investments, building a globally diversified portfolio that spans regions, technologies, and industries. Current holdings include Eku Energy, a battery storage provider in Europe and Asia-Pacific; SkyNRG, a leader in sustainable aviation fuel; Calibrant Energy, which delivers distributed energy solutions to North American industrial and commercial clients; and Verkor, a French manufacturer of EV batteries.
MGETS has secured more than US$2.4 billion in fund commitments, supplemented by a further US$647 million in co-investment pledges for its portfolio companies. Surpassing its original US$2 billion target, the fund attracted backing from a broad mix of global investors, including pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, and asset managers across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. Part of the co-investment was raised through a Macquarie-managed vehicle created for Vertelo, an Indian fleet electrification platform. The vehicle has attracted US$405 million in commitments, including about US$133 million from MGETS as its 12th investment. By blending commercial funding with catalytic concessional capital, the Vertelo deal highlights Macquarie’s capacity to scale investment in India’s expanding market through innovative partnerships, while offering strong value to investors.
For nearly two decades, Macquarie has been advancing practical climate solutions, beginning with its first renewable energy investments in 2005. Today, Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment team oversees US$17 billion in assets worldwide, supporting the energy transition in partnership with more than 30 portfolio companies. This specialist team is dedicated to delivering large-scale solutions that drive the transformation of energy systems while ensuring a reliable energy supply for communities and businesses into the future.
