MEGAWIDE Construction Corp. has received the notice of award from the Baguio City Government for the implementation of the PHP1.2 billion (US$20 million) Baguio City Integrated Terminal (BCIT) project.
The facility will be constructed on a five-hectare site in Barangay Dontogan, approximately 5 km from downtown Baguio. It is designed to ease traffic congestion on major city roads by relocating provincial buses and UV Express vans outside the central area. The upcoming South Luzon Integrated Terminal Exchange (SLITX) will be linked to PITX and other terminals in Metro Manila, featuring direct access to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) via a new toll entry and exit, which are expected to be completed before the start of operations.
The terminal will be built along Marcos Highway and is designed to serve as a passenger transfer hub connecting provincial buses and in-city transport. The 40-year lease agreement governs the operation of the terminal, with land provided under a usufruct agreement with the Department of Agriculture. The BCIT will feature loading and unloading bays for provincial and in-city transport, passenger waiting areas with commercial facilities, public parking, ticketing and customer service booths, schedule information kiosks, baggage amenities, and disability-friendly access. The terminal is designed to accommodate 25,000 passengers daily and will connect seven southbound routes to La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, and Cavite. The project is part of Megawide’s expanding landport network, which also includes the Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), and the forthcoming South Luzon Integrated Terminal Exchange (SLITX) in Cavite. This initiative seeks to ease traffic congestion in Baguio, improve intercity connectivity, and enhance mobility across major Luzon corridors, while contributing to the city’s socio-economic growth and development.
