Northern Corridor Work approaches 55% of progress in Paraguay

The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced that the new Northern Corridor (PY22) route is in the process of construction with overall execution approaching 55% in Paraguay.

The new Northern Corridor, a crucial project financed by the Mercosur Structural Convergence Fund (FOCEM), aims to reduce the travel distance between San Pedro and Concepción by over 100 km, benefiting more than 400,000 residents in Nueva Germania, Concepción, Horqueta, and Belén. Once completed, the corridor will span 150 km, enhancing physical connectivity between the departments and streamlining travel from 240 km to only 130 km.

This work is divided into three lots:
  • Lot 1 starts at the Yacare Ñe'ē intersection, in San Pedro del Ycuamandiyú, extending 50 km, a sector that corresponds to the Ecomipa company, with an advance of 54.86%, as of the nineteenth month. of works.
  • Lot 2 continues from 50 km to 88.8 km, in the city of Belén. It includes the construction of a 200-m bridge over the Ypané River and access to the 17,268 km Ybapovó port. All this is carried out by the Eastern Vial Consortium, whose execution is 45.19%.
  • Lot 3 begins in Horqueta and goes to Belén (24.5 km) on what would be Departmental Route 29, then continues along Route PY22 to Concepción at 43.9 km. This sector is in charge of the Acaray firm and has an accumulated progress of 62.52%.
