Works on Eastern Metropolitan Corridor advances in Paraguay

The Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) has presented important progress on the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor (CMDE) project in Alto Paraná, Paraguay.

The Mediterranean Consortium, comprising ICSA, Petricevic SA, and Ing. Miguel Chaves Hausman, overseeing Rural Access, Lot 2, reports progress of 43% in drainage, embankment, lime soil, granular sub-base, and granular base activities. For the urban lot or interconnection to the existing road network handled by Constructora Acaray in Presidente Franco city, it has reached 70% completion. Meanwhile, the Border Center and the new Administration Cargo Terminal National Navigation and Ports (ANNP) have progressed to 45%.

Six CMDE contracts encompass road and civil works around the Integration Bridge connecting Presidente Franco and Foz de Yguazú, Brazil. These include

  • Rural sector works (lots 1 and 2),
  • a 4 km urban sector, and
  • the construction of a 500 m second bridge over the Monday River.

Additionally, there are two contracts for civil works in the Primary Zone and Port Terminal, with a total investment of USD 212 million. The rural route, spanning 31 km with four lanes, is divided into two lots:

  • Lot 1 from 0 km to 19 km; and
  • Lot 2 from 19km to 30.8km, connecting to the new bridge over the Monday River.
