Homes England and West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) have signed a Strategic Place Partnership (SPP) in support of delivering locally-led housing and regeneration ambitions in the South West region in the UK.
Homes England and the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority will develop a joint strategy to boost regional growth and advance key initiatives such as Bristol Temple Quarter. This major regeneration scheme will transform 135 hectares of brownfield land around the historic Bristol Temple Meads station, delivering 10,000 homes, upgraded public spaces, and sustainable infrastructure. The project is supported by GBP 95 million (US$ 127 million) in government funding.
In addition to Bristol Temple Quarter, Homes England and the West of England Combined Authority are working with local councils to accelerate housing and growth. This includes support for the West Innovation Arc in South Gloucestershire, which will be central to the upcoming Local Growth Plan. In collaboration with Bath & North East Somerset Council, they are unlocking up to 6,000 homes along the Bristol–Bath corridor. A GBP 8 million (US$ 10 million) local investment has been matched by GBP 36 million (US$ 48 million) from Homes England to redevelop brownfield land in central Bath for 1,000 new homes.
