PROINVERSIÓN, on behalf of Peru’s Ministry of Health, has declared the modernization of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital—also known as “Bravo Chico”—viable as a public-private partnership (PPP).

The future concessionaire for the Hipólito Unanue Hospital modernization project will be responsible for the design, construction, financing, maintenance, and operation of the new hospital's general services, replacing the current one, which is operating with significant limitations due to its age. The private operator will be responsible for the maintenance of the infrastructure and equipment (medical, biomedical, furniture, etc.), as well as the management of general services such as laundry, linen, food, security, surveillance, among others.

The new hospital will feature modern facilities and the latest technology for outpatient consultations in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties, hospitalization, emergencies, intensive care, and other highly complex services, including radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. The Hipólito Unanue National Hospital is a referral center and the only one in the eastern part of Lima. It serves a population of over 1.7 million people, primarily from the districts of El Agustino, Ate Vitarte, Santa Anita, La Molina, Cercado de Lima, Lurigancho, and Cieneguilla, as well as patients referred from other areas of Lima and the country.
