Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) has been awarded the project to design and redevelop Downtown Niagara Falls in New York, USA.

PAU will be responsible to design the US$12 million Downtown Niagara Falls Development Strategy, a redevelopment project located around a former canal. The project aims to reinvigorate the site, attract new visitors, stimulate the local economy and strengthen the connections between downtown Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls State park. The scope of the design includes:

  • the reinterpreting transformation of a stretch of the Niagara Falls Power Company’s hydraulic canal into a pedestrian walkway;
  • an observation deck for the border of the Niagara Falls State Park; and
  • redevelopment of DiFranco Park to include a multi-use pavilion and spaces for recreation, gathering, and outdoor activities.

This project is expected to be completed in 2024.
