The Municipality of Caruaru in Pernambuco, Brazil, has launched a public consultation on the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project structured by the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) for the concession of the city's public lighting service. The public comment period will be open until August 02, 2021.

The total investment value for the project is BRL270 million (US$54.71 million) with a concession period of 20 years. BNDES has signed a contract with the consortium formed by the companies Thoreos, Tellus-Mater, and Tauil & Checker to support the modeling for the concession.  Bidding will have as a criterion the lowest amount of consideration paid by the state administration for the provision of services. The winner will be responsible for investing in the expansion, operation and maintenance of the municipal public lighting network.
