Gosport Borough Council has launched the Pride in Place Programme with residents, community organisations, businesses and public-sector partners to deliver a community-led regeneration initiative in the Rowner neighbourhood of Gosport, Hampshire, UK. 

The Pride in Place Programme – Rowner is a community-led regeneration initiative that will bring up to £20 million (US$27 million) of Government funding to the Rowner neighbourhood in Gosport over the next ten years. Led by Gosport Borough Council as the accountable authority, the programme is designed to give residents greater control over how investment is used to improve their neighbourhood. The initiative forms part of the UK Government's wider Pride in Place Programme, which supports long-term regeneration in communities by placing decision-making in the hands of local people. 

A Neighbourhood Board will be established to oversee the programme, bringing together residents, businesses, community organisations, elected representatives and public-sector partners. The board will work with the local community to develop a ten-year regeneration plan that identifies priorities, allocates funding and monitors delivery. Extensive community engagement will ensure that projects reflect the needs and aspirations of people living in Rowner, with residents playing a central role in shaping the area's future. 

Funding may be directed towards a broad range of projects aimed at strengthening the community and improving the local environment. Potential investments include enhancements to parks, play areas, and green spaces; upgrades to community centres and cultural facilities; improvements to streetscapes and public spaces; measures to tackle antisocial behaviour and improve safety; and initiatives that support employment, skills development, health and wellbeing. The programme is intended to create a more attractive, inclusive and resilient neighbourhood while fostering local pride and encouraging long-term economic and social growth.
