The National Center for Privatization & PPP and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing have announced that 63 companies have submitted Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for Saudi Arabia’s Municipal Food Safety Labs Project, highlighting strong market confidence in the Kingdom’s growing public-private partnership (PPP) sector. The interested participants include 53 Saudi firms and 10 international companies spanning laboratory operations, contracting, development, consulting, investment, and financial services.

The project aims to modernize and operate municipal food safety laboratories across five municipalities — Hafr Al Batin, Northern Borders, Tabuk, Qassim, and Al Ahsa — under an Equip-Operate-Maintain-Transfer PPP model with a five-year contract period. The selected private-sector partner will be responsible for equipping, operating, and maintaining the laboratories while enhancing testing capabilities for food and water products through advanced chemical and microbiological analysis.

The list of interested entities includes major laboratory operators and inspection firms such as Intertek International Limited, SGS Inspection Services Saudi Arabia, TUV Rheinland Arabia LLC, and Eurofins Ajal, alongside developers, contractors, consultants, and investors from Saudi Arabia and abroad.
