The city of Pärnu has named the Slovak company D-PHASE the winner of the design tender for the reconstruction of the Pärnu city center bridge in Estonia.
The city of Pärnu is exploring the possibility of turning the Kesklinna (city center) bridge into a movable structure during its reconstruction and has asked the company to present design options for both movable and fixed versions. At the same time, the city authorities want the new bridge, which will replace the currently deteriorating one, to be designed in a way that reflects the appearance of the historic four-arched Suursild that once existed at the site.
The city estimates that the design phase will last six months and cost close to €243,000, while the bridge reconstruction is scheduled for completion by autumn 2028. Pärnu’s Deputy Mayor Robert Kiviselg stated that the Slovak company has already submitted all required documents and fulfilled the necessary conditions, and now the focus is on ensuring that both preliminary design options are prepared as soon as possible.
