Torino FC has submitted a redevelopment proposal with the City of Turin for the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

Torino FC has taken a significant step toward redeveloping its home ground, the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, by formally submitting a proposal to the Turin city council. The plan is being developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin, highlighting a partnership-based approach rather than a traditional, club-only project. This proposal is part of a broader ambition to modernise sports infrastructure in the city and create a more forward-looking stadium environment.

A crucial development enabling this move is the expiration of a 20-year mortgage tied to the stadium, which had long prevented meaningful redevelopment. With this financial burden now cleared, Torino and its partners finally have the flexibility to pursue large-scale improvements. The project also extends beyond the main stadium to include upgrades to the Robaldo Sports Centre, an important facility for youth and reserve teams, indicating a holistic approach to football infrastructure.

The proposal is structured around a public–private partnership (PPP) involving the club, the city, and the university. This model is designed to combine resources, expertise, and risk-sharing between public and private stakeholders. It reflects a shift in how stadium projects are approached in Italy, where complex ownership structures and limited private investment have historically slowed development. By involving an academic institution, the plan also emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and modern design principles.

Importantly, the redevelopment is not just about renovating an ageing venue—it is framed as part of a wider vision to transform Turin into a modern sports hub. The project aims to create a multi-use, sustainable facility that serves both football and the broader community. This includes improving environmental standards, enhancing fan experience, and potentially integrating commercial and social spaces around the stadium.
