The Government of Uzbekistan has greenlit the construction of a new Tashkent–Charvak highway, designed to provide a faster, more reliable route to the popular Charvak–Chimgan recreational zone, spreading across Tashkent City, Tashkent Region, and Syrdarya Region. Announced by Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov, the highway will be built separately from existing roads, thus not disrupting current traffic infrastructure, and aims to alleviate persistent congestion on the overloaded access route. Following a presidential directive, a preliminary concept has been drafted, and the project is set to proceed under a public–private partnership (PPP) model, with both domestic and international firms invited to bid competitively. The new highway is expected to greatly improve travel convenience for both citizens and tourists, enhancing the area’s appeal as a destination and boosting regional investment potential.
