The city and council of Wilmington in North Carolina, USA have agreed to purchase a land plot located at Third Street and Front Street in North Wilmington to proceed with the Northern Gateway project. This 0.39-acre land is valued at US$ 625,000, the purchase of it will allow the city to have control over the aesthetics and purpose of buildings among other things. The property was owned by East West Partners (EWP).
The Northern Gateway project will see approximately 8 acres of development, which includes residential and retail spaces as well as a grocery store, visitor center and parking decks. The project is being procured under a public-private partnership (PPP).
