The consortium including China Communications Construction Company and China Railway 20 Bureau Group has begun test-drilling for the Salvador - Itaparica road bridge in Bahia state, Brazil.

The proposed structure, spanning 12.4 km, is planned to traverse the Bay of All Saints, connecting Salvador, the capital city of Bahia State, to the island of Itaparica, which already has established connections to the mainland on its side of the bay. A consortium, including the China Communications Construction Company and China Railway 20 Bureau Group, is poised to undertake its construction. Initial activities involve onshore drilling, followed by surveys conducted in the bay. This process will include ship-based drilling to gather seabed samples. The cable-stayed bridge will be complemented by approximately 34 km of highways, two tunnels, and viaducts.
