The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that eight bidders have participated in the bidding for the Contract Package 1 (CP1) of the USD3 billion Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) Project in the Philippines.

The bidders for CP1 are:

  • Beijing Urban Construction Group Co. Ltd.
  • D.M. Consunji Inc.
  • China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.
  • Sino Road and Bridge Group Co., Ltd.
  • EEI – PMI Joint Venture
  • POSCO E&C – Sta. Clara Joint Venture
  • China Wu Yi Co. Ltd. / Fujian Road & Bridge Construction Group Co. Ltd. (Consortium)
  • Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Ltd. and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Joint Venture

Among them, China Harbour Engineering Company Limited led the competition with a PHP4.87 billion (US$83.7 million) bid, marking a 33% discount from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) PHP7.2 billion (US$124.6 million) budget for the Bataan Land Approach segment. In contrast, Filipino consortiums Sta. Clara–Posco, EEI Corporation–PMI, and DMCI ranked fifth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.

The CP1 covers the construction of the Bataan Land Approach, with an approved agency estimate of PHP7.25 billion (US$124.6 million). Major structure components of this package include the trumpet interchange that connects the BCIB with Roman Highway, Roman Interchange Bridge, Alas-Asin Main Bridge, Alas-Asin Overpass Bridge, Mt. View Overpass Bridge, Mt. View Waterway Bridge, and the Bataan Land Viaduct. The 32.15-km BCIB Project, which will be the longest water-spanning bridge in the Philippines, is a flagship infrastructure initiative of the Marcos administration aimed at significantly reducing travel time between the provinces of Bataan and Cavite.
