The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has requested the concessionaire Ruta Bogotá Norte S.A.S. to sign the construction phase start certificate for the Accesos Norte Phase II project in Bogotá, Colombia.
After completing technical, legal, financial, land, environmental, and social assessments of contractual requirements, the ANI has confirmed that all conditions have been met for the concessionaire Ruta Bogotá Norte SAS to sign the Construction Phase Commencement Act for the Accesos Norte Phase II project in March 2026. This initiative is crucial for improving connectivity between Bogotá and the northern regions of the country.
Between 191st and 245th Streets on the Autopista Norte (North Highway), expansion and improvement works will be carried out on the road corridor. These works include the construction of two new mixed-traffic lanes in each direction and an exclusive lane for TransMilenio (bus rapid transit) between 191st and 235th Streets. Existing lanes will also be modified, passing lanes for TransMilenio will be built at the planned stations, and infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists will be developed, including sidewalks and bike paths on both sides of the road. The project also includes the construction of grade-separated U-turns at 235th and 242nd Streets, as well as studies and designs for the intersection at 201st Street. The North Access Phase II project, with an approximate length of 17.96 km, seeks to improve mobility between Bogotá and the municipalities of northern Cundinamarca, optimizing regional connectivity and contributing to the decongestion of one of the most important access corridors to the capital of the country.
The ANI will maintain continuous oversight of contractual compliance, ensuring that all works are carried out in line with the technical, environmental, and social standards defined in the concession agreement.
