Bedford Borough Council is initiating the procurement process to appoint a Preliminary Developer Partner for the redevelopment of Mayes Yard, a significant site in Bedford town centre.
The selected partner will be responsible for progressing the scheme through the planning process and supporting the Council in the delivery of a high-quality, mixed-use development. The project, which has an estimated construction value of over GBP 80 million (US$ 107 million), is intended to revitalise the area and contribute to the broader regeneration of the town centre. The partnership will be established through a competitive, flexible procedure, with the contract expected to run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029. CBRE Limited is acting as the procurement advisor on behalf of the Council, and a formal tender notice is anticipated to be issued on 16 June 2025.
