Egis has been appointed as the Site Supervision Consultant (SSC) for the revitalization of the King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC) Transit System.
The 3.6-kilometer monorail system will be reactivated to enhance KAFD’s advanced mobility network, which features the world’s longest skywalk, providing smooth connectivity across the district. The monorail is linked to the wider Riyadh Metro, where Egis, as part of the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) consortium, oversaw the project management, design, and construction, delivering the network’s Blue, Red, and Orange lines (Lines 1, 2, and 3) on behalf of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).
The monorail will feature six two-car trains running on an elevated one-way loop, with six strategically placed stations integrated into public buildings. Acting as SSC, Egis will provide full oversight of the project, covering rolling stock, rail systems, civil and structural works, MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), architecture, utilities, and landscaping. In addition, Egis will be responsible for reviewing and approving shop drawings, method statements, and material submissions, while ensuring strict compliance and quality control throughout the construction phase. As a major strategic component of Riyadh’s developing transport network, the KAFD monorail aims to improve accessibility, supporting KAFD’s vision as a pedestrian-focused “10-minute city” that redefines urban mobility for the future. Connecting with the Riyadh Metro will simplify transit for professionals, residents, and visitors, help alleviate congestion, and create a more interconnected urban center, while strengthening Riyadh’s reputation as a pioneer in forward-thinking urban development.
