EOI invited for International Airport PPP Project in Saudi Arabia

The Saudi Civil Aviation Holding Company (MATARAT) in collaboration with the National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP), has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from interested parties for the proposed Abha Airport Public Private Partnership (PPP) Project located in Abha City, Saudi Arabia.

Abha Airport ranks as the fifth largest airport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, and Madinah. The proposed infrastructure development plan for the new Abha Airport will include the following elements:

  • A new passenger terminal building, with a target date for inauguration by 2028, is to be constructed in two to three phases and located in the available area to the east of the existing terminal;
  • A new Rapid Exit Taxiway on the current runway in the midterm (2030–2040);
  • A new apron to serve the new terminal in the short term (before 2027), to be expanded in future phases; and
  • Other developments, such as access roads to the new terminal building, a new car park area, and support facilities expansions (e.g., electrical substation expansion, new sewage treatment plant, etc.)
