The Jharkhand government, in coordination with the district administration and health department officials, has identified around five acres of land within the Dhanbad Sadar Hospital campus in Dhanbad for the development of the proposed Guruji Medical College under the PPP model.
A new medical college is proposed to be established within the Sadar Hospital campus in Dhanbad on nearly five acres of land, with an estimated project cost of around ₹400 crore (US$42 million). Under the supervision of the Civil Surgeon, land within the hospital premises has already been identified and surveyed for the project, which is planned to be developed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Authorities may also explore acquiring additional land outside the campus if further space is required for the institution’s expansion. Efforts are underway to clear outdated buildings within the campus to facilitate the development of modern infrastructure for the proposed institution. Construction of the boundary wall is expected to commence shortly. The project is likely to receive financial support from the state government, the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions.
