The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has partnered with Exhicon Events Media Solutions Ltd to develop a ₹250 crore (US$26.8 million) multipurpose exhibition and convention centre in Mohali, Punjab, India.
The facility will be constructed in two phases, with the first expected to be completed by December 31, 2026, and the second finished a year later. Situated in the core of Mohali’s IT City, the ₹250-crore project covers 14 acres in Sector 83, close to Plaksha University and the Infosys campus. It is being developed under a PPP model in collaboration with Exhicon Events Media Solutions Ltd, which will manage and operate the centre for a concession period of 15 years. The project entails developing a convention centre equipped to host large-scale national and international events, featuring world-class infrastructure and amenities. It will include expansive, column-free exhibition halls—two of the main halls measuring roughly 40,000 sq ft and 15,000 sq ft—along with conference and breakout rooms. In addition, there will be retail outlets and food and beverage spaces covering about 15,000 sq ft, as well as parking facilities for at least 1,000 vehicles. The complex will also incorporate landscaped public areas and open spaces for events.
The centre is planned as a versatile, multi-purpose venue capable of accommodating a wide range of events. It will host conferences and summits with 5,000 to 10,000 delegates, feature meet-and-greet spaces of around 20,000 sq ft for up to 2,000 people, and support trade fairs and exhibitions with 200 to 500 booths. Additionally, it will cater to corporate events with 1,000 to 10,000 attendees, cultural and entertainment programmes for similar capacities, and large social gatherings of up to 15,000 people.
