The Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) has planned the expansion of Patratu Lake Resort near Ranchi in partnership with private hospitality operators under a public-private partnership model.
The JTDC-owned and managed facility is set to add around 100 new rooms as part of a proposed 25-acre integrated leisure development aimed at enhancing its status as a leading regional tourism destination. Currently, the two JTDC-run hotels at the site — Paryatan Vihar and Sarovar Vihar — offer 20 rooms each.
The authorities are proposing to expand accommodation capacity in phases by adding nearly 100 rooms, including 20–25 lake-facing cottages designed with parallel structural layouts. Under the broader 25-acre development plan, around 17 acres will be earmarked for a new water park, while seven to eight acres will be allocated for hospitality and event-related infrastructure. The initiative is expected to boost destination weddings and social events by offering affordable, budget-friendly options for visitors from nearby cities.
