The Portuguese Government, through a decision by the Council of Ministers announced by the Minister of the Presidency, has approved the construction of the Central Hospital of the Algarve — a more than €420 million (US$489 million) with total costs over the life of the contract estimated at around €1.1 billion (US$1.28 billion) investment to be delivered in a public-private partnership model — to be built in the Algarve region of southern Portugal.
The government intends to invest up to €426.6 million over 27 years, with annual expenditure capped at €50 million (US$58.2 million), and expects the new facility to be fully operational by 2031. The hospital will provide modern clinical facilities, expanded capacity and improved healthcare services, addressing long-standing regional needs and supporting population growth and seasonal demand in southern Portugal.
