The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) have invited local and international companies to submit comparative proposals for upgrading, expanding, operations, and maintaining the Laguindingan International Airport in the Philippines.

Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. submitted an unsolicited proposal for this project, which has been accepted by DOTr and CAAP. The comparative challenge process involves presenting alternative proposals for the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of Laguindingan International Airport over a 30-year concession period. The primary objective is to improve connectivity in the Northern Mindanao region, encompassing Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, and Camiguin provinces, along with the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. The project aims to establish an aviation strategy for new airlines and connections, facilitate international flight development, expand airport capacity based on market demand, introduce sustainable practices, and enhance the overall passenger experience through operational and environmental enhancements.
