The University of Nairobi (UoN) and the Government of Kenya (GoK) have launched an initiative to develop a Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) project through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
The project is set to be constructed on a roughly 14-acre parcel of land at Mamlaka, situated within the University of Nairobi’s premises. Out of this, 8.7 acres have been designated for the actual development. The site’s prime location within the campus ensures easy access to academic buildings and student services. The development will provide approximately 4,000 student beds, along with a range of amenities such as recreational areas, communal spaces, and retail facilities designed to meet students' everyday needs.
The GoK aims to collaborate with experienced private sector partners who can handle both the construction and long-term management of the proposed project. Private entities with demonstrated technical proficiency and strong financial standing will be invited to express their interest and submit comprehensive proposals.
