The Government of São Paulo, through the Secretariat for Investment Partnerships, has begun mobilization work for the widening and improvement of the Washington Luís Highway (SP-310) in the São José do Rio Preto region that will cover the municipalities of Cedral, São José do Rio Preto and Mirassol.

The project, backed by an estimated investment of R$455 million, will be executed by the Ecovias Noroeste Paulista concessionaire under the oversight of ARTESP, the São Paulo State Transportation Agency. Completion is anticipated in the second half of 2027. The scope includes building 15.8 kilometers of bypass roads at specific locations: between km 436 and km 446 in São José do Rio Preto, around km 425 in Cedral, and near km 448 in Mirassol. In addition, 26.3 kilometers of third lanes will be added along sections between km 428–436 and km 444–452, with most of these expansions constructed within the central median of the highway.

A key component of the project is the complete reconstruction of the interchange with the Transbrasiliana Highway (BR‑153), which will feature new access loops and return viaducts, along with upgrades to the entry points into São José do Rio Preto. In total, 11 viaducts will be constructed along the corridor from Cedral to Mirassol, designed to accommodate both mainline and local road traffic. Beyond expanding the highway’s capacity, these improvements aim to enhance traffic flow and road safety by separating long-haul vehicles from local traffic.
