The São Paulo State Government, through the Secretariat of Investment Partnerships (SPI), will hold public hearings to present and discuss the PPP project for Line 16 – Violeta, also known as the Parks Line.

The public hearings aim to present details of the project, clarify doubts and gather suggestions from the public before the publication of the concession notice – scheduled to take place in the first half of 2026. The initiative is part of the State Government's plan to modernize and expand the metro network of Greater São Paulo, promoting improvements in infrastructure and the quality of the service offered.

With a projected investment of R$37.5 billion (US$7 billion), the first phase of construction on the new line is expected to be 19 kilometers long and have 16 stations, connecting the east and west zones, with trip intervals of three minutes during peak hours and six minutes during off-peak hours. The line is expected to carry an average of 475,000 passengers per day by 2040. Line 16 should have eight integrations: Line 1-Blue, at Ana Rosa station; Line 2-Green, at Ana Rosa and Anália Franco stations; Line 4-Yellow, at Oscar Freire station; Line 6-Orange, at São Carlos station; Line 10-Turquoise, at São Carlos station; and with the future lines 19-Celeste, at Jardim Paulista station; 20-Pink, at Teodoro Sampaio station; and 22-Brown also at Teodoro Sampaio station.

Line 16-Violeta will have stations near the capital's parks to encourage public transportation use and bring residents closer to the city's green spaces. The project's Phase 1 route includes, for example, Ibirapuera and Aclimação parks; Independence Park; and Regente Feijó and Anália Franco stations will facilitate access to Ceret Park. The project was qualified in the São Paulo State Investment Partnership Program (PPI-SP) and will be implemented through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), lasting 31 years.
