Viridis Living, a consortium comprising Equitix, GRAHAM, and Derwent FM, has secured Reserved Matters Planning Consent from Manchester City Council for the redevelopment of the University of Manchester’s Fallowfield Campus.
With the design, layout, and landscaping plans finalized, the development is ready to move forward. Spanning Owens Park, Oak House, and Woolton Hall, the scheme will provide up to 3,300 high-quality student residences, complemented by amenity spaces, supporting accommodation, and extensive green areas. It will establish five unique neighbourhoods, each reflecting aspects of Manchester’s cultural, sporting, and musical heritage. Sustainability is at the core of the project, which aims to achieve Passivhaus certification and a BREEAM Excellent rating. To boost efficiency, minimize waste, and speed up delivery, the scheme will adopt Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), including offsite manufacturing.
Acting on behalf of the consortium, GRAHAM has overseen the planning process in partnership with the University of Manchester, architects Sheppard Robson, and planning advisors Deloitte. Preparatory works are already underway ahead of the main construction phase, scheduled to commence in early 2026. The project will be delivered in stages, with students set to move into their new accommodation between 2026 and 2030.
