SYSTRA Subterra has won the development of the Santiago metro in Chile with an assignment for Detailed Design Civil Works Shafts and Tunnels on Section 2 of line 8.
The project, which runs from the stations of Chile Spain to Los Leones over a length of 4.3km, includes the following main assignments:
The Santiago metro holds historical significance for SYSTRA, which first created plans for the system in 1968 and has played a key role in designing most of its lines. Line 8, spanning 19 km, is designed to enhance connections between the north-east and south-east of Santiago. The entire line will be underground, passing through six municipalities, and is set to benefit nearly 2 million residents, reducing travel times by almost 60%.
