Turner Construction Company has announced its selection for the San Diego Unified School District’s Mann Middle School Whole Site Modernization project.
The project will be delivered in phases and includes comprehensive improvements to the Mann Middle School campus. The modernization effort, designed by Sprotte+Watson Architecture and Planning, includes the renovation of existing buildings 300, 400, and the 500 building (Auditorium). A portion of Building 200 will be demolished, preserving the existing library, and a new expansion will be constructed to accommodate updated restrooms and support spaces.
Additionally, the scope of work features the demolition of the existing physical education building and the construction of a new PE locker building and gymnasium. The new PE facilities will include accessible parking and improved access from Trojan Avenue. Modernization efforts will also address existing classrooms, special education classrooms, the auditorium, and food service facilities. Upgrades will include site accessibility improvements, enhancements to technology and communication infrastructure, and broader site work enhancements to support student learning and campus functionality.
Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2026 and is expected to be completed by early 2029.
