The Ministry of Public Works has begun construction of the Renca Coastal Park with an investment of nearly USD 7 million which involves a complete remodeling of the 5.9 hectares of Costanera Renca Park, with projects that include sports and children's recreation areas, security cameras, and controlled perimeter access.
The park's restoration includes areas for sports, children's recreation, senior citizens' recreation, and petting, as well as renovated multi-sport courts, along with lighting, security cameras, and controlled access. The project also includes enclosing the park's perimeter with anti-vandalism fencing and installing a closed-circuit television system. These measures will allow for controlled access to the park, close it at night, and implement a joint security system between the municipality and the concessionaire to reduce theft and vandalism.
The project also includes replacing the fairgrounds with a skate park; replacing the soccer field, which doesn't meet the official size, with an area designated primarily for senior citizens (Civic Center); incorporating synthetic turf to the soccer field with regulatory dimensions, new lighting, and other additional facilities; incorporating two calisthenics areas and equipment for senior citizens; adding a new area for early childhood games and games for children (ages 6 to 12); adding a pet care area; and incorporating new elements to the four multi-purpose courts currently operating in Renca Park.
