Ukraine has unveiled a 40-year concession project for the Chornomorsk seaport during an investment conference held in Warsaw on April 24, 2025.
The initiative aims to modernize and expand two key terminals—the container and universal terminals—enhancing Ukraine's maritime infrastructure and trade capacity. The container terminal is projected to handle up to 760,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) annually, while the universal terminal is expected to manage over 5 million tons of cargo per year. This concession complements the newly established Ukrainian Black Sea Corridor, designed to diversify cargo routes, bolster trade reliability, and improve customs efficiency. The project is being developed in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), ensuring adherence to international standards and practices.
The competitive tender process is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025, with the contract award anticipated in Q4 of the same year.
