The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has awarded the contract to the company Viettel Perú SAC for the AWS-3 and 2.3 GHz Radio Spectrum Band projects in Peru.

The AWS-3 Radioelectric Spectrum Bands project is split into 2 blocks: Block A with 2x15 MHz and Block B with 2x15 MHz. Viettel Perú SAC was awarded both blocks by proposing 4G mobile service coverage in 2,640 locations. Viettel Peru's total investment in implementing 4G mobile services in the designated locations is estimated to be around US$600 million, significantly exceeding the initial estimate of US$268 million.

The AWS-3 and 2.3 GHz Radioelectric Spectrum Bands projects offer 2 key benefits. Firstly, it enables rural areas without mobile services or limited to 2G/3G technology to access 4G mobile services, enhancing communication quality. Secondly, the allocation of these bands allows awarded mobile operators to optimize spectrum utilization, leading to improved nationwide communication quality.
