Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management has launched a new private equity fund called the Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II, designed to give private banking clients access to investment opportunities in small and mid-sized private companies in North America. Through a combination of carefully selected specialised private equity managers and direct co-investments, the fund enables clients to participate in markets that are typically accessible only to large institutional investors.

This latest fund is the second North America-focused private equity vehicle the firm has introduced and marks the sixth private equity fund launched since 2018. Like its predecessor, it is structured as a closed-end fund with a ten-year term, blending investments in other private equity funds with direct co-investments to build a diversified portfolio and potentially generate positive cash flows sooner. The fund is intended exclusively for professional and experienced investors (qualified investors) and carries a high risk classification, reflecting the illiquid nature of private equity investments and quarterly valuation methodology. Van Lanschot Kempen emphasises the importance of reviewing the fund’s full documentation before making investment decisions, noting that capital invested may fall in value and returns are not guaranteed.

Kempen North American Private Equity Fund II is a sub-fund of the Van Lanschot Kempen Umbrella III Coöperatief U.A. (Fund), domiciled in the Netherlands. Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management NV (VLK IM) is the manager of the Fund. VLK IM is authorised as a management company and regulated by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets. The Fund is registered under the license of Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management NV in the Netherlands Autoriteit Financiële Markten (AFM).
