Wakefield Council has appointed a strategic regeneration partner to support a long-term housing, economic growth and town-centre regeneration programme in Castleford. The partnership aims to transform the town into a distinctive, sustainable riverside market town by coordinating development initiatives, attracting public and private investment, and unlocking opportunities for new housing, employment and commercial activity. The programme will also focus on improving public spaces, connectivity and infrastructure, alongside developing a new riverside park and promoting Castleford’s heritage, culture and tourism potential.
The appointed partners are Morgan Sindall Consortium LLP and Muse Places Limited. The partnership is expected to operate over a period of 10–15 years, with a stated contract value of £40 million (US$53.4 million). The procurement was conducted through a further competition under the Pagabo Developer-Led Framework for mixed-use development in Yorkshire and the Humber. The regeneration partners will work with Wakefield Council and public-sector organisations, including Homes England and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to coordinate development activity and support sustainable economic growth.
